The City of Delano was looking for a new brand identity to replace the current, crowd sourced design from the 90’s. Given Delano has one of the largest fireworks celebrations in MN and that the community loved the fireworks from the previous identity, we knew we should utilize that idea in the new identity. We modernized and simplified the firework mark and paired it with a classic typeface inspired by some signage examples already used by the Public Works department.


These more robust illustrations highlight specific areas in the Delano community. The illustrations were designed for a street banner application.

Our brand applications included ads for both print and social media, signage systems, brochure systems, street banners and stationary.

Design Process

We went through 3 rounds of work to end up with the final identity for Delano. Most of our directions were based on already existing typographic expressions scattered throughout the town.
