From outstanding education and recreational offerings to proactive community engagement, Willmar stands as a thriving hub where tradition and innovation harmoniously flourish.

 

Replace was grateful to have the opportunity to create a brand that was inspired by the city’s past. We were inspired by the WPA era architecture, the famous railroad hub, and the colorful downtown community of Willmar when creating the new logo. This inspiration also carried through our typeface choices, illustration styles and signage applications. So what are you waiting for, get on over to Willmar, Minnesota’s Crossroads.

Round 1 Design

We began this project with over 5 directions. Some focused on the buffalo fish, some more focused on the railroad hub, and others that took all the WPA era signage and architecture into consideration.

Design Refinements

A uniquely Willmar W was liked from the get go. Our refinements worked on bringing the railroad and industrial nature of the town into that W. We then built a system of iconography that could live inside of the W to represent various aspects of the Willmar community.
