FRANKENPUTER LIVES!

This is a reason to keep a well stocked tech drawer of seemingly useless computer supplies. This G5 iMac had a motherboard fry that left the screen long since dead. We figured out how to patch a 2001 Apple Studio display through some spooky off-brand coverter kit and Voilá! we have a functioning G5 iMac Frankenputer!

We have several of these chimaeras fueling the Spunk Design Machine.

Ms. Johnson!

Honored lunch guest at the shop today: Ms. Donna Johnson! If it wasn’t for her, Spunk wouldn’t exist, folks.

The Crew Goes to Lunch

Today the Spunk crew took a pizza field trip (no permission slips required) to a topnotch Minneapolis pizza joint: Galactic Pizza. We’ve been familiar with Galactic for some time now and lunch is the most important meal of the day, after all. Here, Lindsay and Lukas are totally gettin’ into the pizza experience, man, by interacting with some of Spunk’s handiwork. Go Galactic!

Paperless Poster Article on The Living Principles Website

Great new article about the Paperless Poster concept created by Spunk’s own Craig Johnson.

“…As we move further down the path of making a more sustainable society, it’s not enough to just make the same old things a bit less nasty. We have to challenge ourselves to find completely new ways of getting things done.” by Wendy Jedlicka

Check it out on the Living Principles website.

Steve in the Cruiser!

Well here it is, folks – Steve getting a ride to the light rail station a la Jeff Johnson and the Nokomis Cruiser.

Relish in this beautiful moment.

Jeff Johnson found in Denmark

Jeff Johnson’s sketches were spotted last week at the Danish Design Center’s shop. A new Steven Heller book, GRAPHIC has been released containing the sketches, thoughts and ideas of the world’s greatest graphic designers.

Pick up a copy and take a look at this impressive, possibly intimidating sampling of talent.

A Baby Incubator made from Car Parts. No kidding!

Our friend Tom Weis had his project featured in the New York Times. This is really just about the best design project I’ve seen in my life. Years in development. Was lucky enough to see it at the Cooper last month. Really amazing project and mission.
