Support the 2012 Time Travel Calendar!
Thursday, October 27, 2011
Our dear, sweet designer pal, Alex Griendling, has started a Kickstarter campaign for his 2012 Time Traveler Calendar. He breaks down the whole project in the video above. Or if you’re more of a reader:
“This is the culmination of years of sci-fi fandom and design practice. I want to create a high quality calendar that will help everyone make their home or workspace approximately 45% nerdier and 100% better-looking (Ok, maybe not a 100%, but better-looking. Honest.).
The calendar collects time travel events from films, comics, TV shows and videogames and puts them on a single timeline that plays out over the year. You’re getting about 2.6 billion years of time travel in 12 months.”
So come on all you glorious and beautiful nerds, pledge to the 2012 Time Travel Calendar! And get some neat stuff in return.

Joker: “Vision (Let Me Breathe)” ft. Jessie Ware & Freddie Gibbs from Spunk Design Machine on Vimeo.
Spunk Design Machine NYC was thrilled when asked by old friend Robert Semmer to co-direct the new Joker video for independent record label 4AD. The video is for the track “The Vision (Let Me Breathe)” [ft. Jesse Ware & Freddie Gibbs]; it was shot by Anthony Mathile, had edit help from Adam Sauermilch, and features the dancing of Brooklyn’s Dance Hall Queen, Mika Dymond. You’ll definitely want to watch it more than once. Enjoy!
Art 4 Shelter… do it!
Monday, October 24, 2011
The date for the 2nd annual Art 4 Shelter benefit has been set for Wednesday, May 9th, 2012 at Chambers Hotel in Minneapolis.
What is Art 4 Shelter?
Art 4 Shelter is a benefit for Simpson Housing Services that exhibits and sells original artworks on paper by emerging and established artists. Each piece sells for $30 and the works are only signed on the back, meaning that you may end up with a piece by a famous artist or by an unknown artist. Either way, you’ll nab some awesome art while helping house people experiencing homelessness.
Donate!
We know a lot of you readers are (damn good) artists. The site hasn’t yet been updated with this 2012 dates, but check out the submission guidelines and get a-crackin’!
1,186 original works were donated last year, raising over $30,000!
